Usha is at heart a nature advocate, community facilitator, forager, and mother. She has spent the last decade working in nature conservation and sustainable food systems. Based in her hometown, Oxford, she works part-time as a Senior Officer for Natural England evaluating the success of government funded nature-friendly farming practices. The rest of her time she is passionate about supporting community projects enabling access to and engagement with wild spaces for people of all backgrounds and generations. She also runs her own business offering workshops and retreats centred around nature connection.

Her background is in project management and community engagement with a passion for campaigning for environmental and social justice issues. In the past she has worked in Naples, Italy managing projects collaborating with local schools, community centres, refugee centres, eNGOs, and nature reserves. In London, UK she worked for a community-run, not-for-profit food cooperative and vegbox scheme to make sustainably sourced food accessible and affordable. In her voluntary roles she has been a farmer, seed saver, and herbalist in permaculture farms and community garden projects, and run environmental education sessions for eNGOs.
